Rubber Crumb
The
break down of used tyres to generate a usable industrial product involves
a complicated and expensive industrial process.
To achieve a good product, that is clean and suitable for the wide rang of industrial processes requires a multi stage manufacturing system using machinary with a capital cost of several millions of pound sterling.
The plant uses predominately truck tyres, which give the cleanest end product.
The tyre is first broken up into handlable pieces at several location through out the country where the tyres are collected. This first stage follows the primary cleaning of the tyre to remove any foreign matter and non ferrous inclusion.
A primary chopping process takes place and this leads to the first of several separation stages, which remove the textile and ferrous metal.
The product is cut with knives to one of several different particle sizes before separation by screening to the final particle size required.
The
extremely sophisticated screening plant can produce virtually any particle
size that is required.
The uses to which the end product is being put are expanding all the time.

0.5-2, 0.8-1.8, 1-3, 2-4, 2-6, 2-8, 5-10, 12-14. (mm)
